kpatch-dkms software package provides DKMS module for Kpatch, you can install in your Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install kpatch-dkms
kpatch-dkms is installed in your system.
Make ensure the kpatch-dkms package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep kpatch-dkms *
You will get with kpatch-dkms package name, version, architecture and description in a table
